LET’S TALK LIMITED HOME RULE
Monclova Township voters will have the opportunity to decide on November 3, 2026, whether the Township should adopt Limited Home Rule. Townships around Ohio, including Sylvania and Perrysburg, have adopted Limited Home Rule and are seeing its benefits. Limited Home Rule will impact the quality of life in our community. We will be able to better address the types of nuisance issues that are called into the township offices nearly every day: high grass, trash, junk vehicles, excessive noise, as well as certain traffic and parking matters
Just as important, Monclovians should know why it’s called LIMITED Home Rule. It does not allow the Township to enact an income tax. All property taxes will still require voter approval, just like today. The government structure remains the same, and as with all Home Rule communities in Ohio, no action can conflict with state law. We invite the community to study this issue over the course of the next two months.
