As we gear up for celebrations leading into America’s 250th birthday, it’s a great time for a quick refresher on Ohio’s fireworks laws.
Fireworks are only permitted on certain dates like Memorial Day weekend, Juneteenth, and around the Fourth of July, typically between 4 p.m. and 11 p.m. And remember, they can only be used on private property with permission. Local rules may be stricter, so it’s always a good idea to double-check before lighting up the night.
Safety matters. No fireworks use by anyone under 18; no lighting near homes or crowds; and never while under the influence.
And one more thing: Please be mindful of your neighbors, especially pets and livestock. Loud fireworks can be stressful for animals, so a little courtesy goes a long way in keeping everyone (two-legged and four-legged) safe and comfortable.
