Citizens looking to dispose of excess and expired pill-form prescription and pill-form over-the-counter medications can now visit the safe and secure permanent drop off location at the Monclova Township Administrative Offices located at 4335 Albon Road AWAKE to A Safe and Healthy Community Coalition, has partnered with the Monclova Township to establish a permanent MedReturn drug collection program in order to reduce the supply of drugs that can potentially harm teens and adults.
Properly disposing of excess drugs is everyone’s responsibility as a matter of public safety. More than 70 percent of young people abusing prescription pain relievers get them through friends or family, a statistic that includes raiding the family medicine cabinet. Now Monclova Township residents won’t have to wait for a specific take-back day to clean out their medicine cabinets, as was accomplished previously. The collection site is open during regular Township office hours Monday Noon-4:00 pm and Tuesday thru Friday 8 am-4:00 pm. Unused and unwanted prescription and over the counter medications, in pill form can be dropped off with no questions asked. Liquids and gels are NOT accepted.
