Fall Leaf Collection

The fall season is upon us and the leaves are beginning to drop. The following options are available for leaf disposal in Monclova Township.

Township curbside service for leaf collection. This is a no-fee service which begins mid-October with a flexible ending for the service. When winter weather is imminent, leaf collection will cease and the vacuum apparatus is replaced with snow and salt equipment.
The procedure is as follows:

Leaves must be brought as close to the road as possible but NOT in the roadway.

We will not collect piles of leaves that contain sticks or non-leaf debris

The township peruses the roadways and collects on an "as needed basis"

It is not necessary to call any township department about your leaves unless the pile has been standing for more then 7 days without reasonable explanation (weather hinderance, etc.)

Residents may take their leaves and other yard waste to Clean Wood Recycling, 6505 W. Bancroft St., for free disposal with a valid Lucas County drivers license. Commercial plated vehicles will be nominally charged. Call 419-843-9662 for information.

Private curbside service is a chargeable item through the vendor of your choice. Many lawncare companies offer this.

Backyard compost, if allowed in your area, can enrich your garden soil.

Many lawn and garden supply stores offer homeowner compost bins.

We are pleased to offer curbside leaf collection service to curbed and uncurbed roadways, whether they are designated as township, county or state roadways.

The burning of leaves is a violation of the fire code and could subject violators to a fine.
