Monclova Township is a growing community located in
Western Lucas County in Northwest Ohio, consisting of residential, farming,
commercial and industrial properties. Monclova Township is approximately
20 square miles with a population of 7,000 residents. We have maintained
an ISO classification of 5/9. Our last grading occurred in 2002.
The Department provides many services to the community including
Fire Prevention & Suppression; Emergency Medical Services; Heavy Rescue;
Water Rescue and Hazardous Materials Spill Response. The Department
responds to approximately 600 calls annually and has mutual aid agreements
with all Lucas County Fire Departments as well as participate in the
State Wide Mutual Aid.
Our department has an authorized strength of 40 paid per call volunteers,
10 part time firefighter / EMT's and a full time Fire Chief. The station
is staffed during the weekdays with paid firefighter / EMT's. At all
other times, calls are handled by the Departments' Volunteer personnel.
The Fire / Rescue Department operates out of our newly constructed
7200 square foot apparatus room and 4000 square foot remodeled crew
area, located at the corner of Albon and Monclova Roads. Apparatus
includes; 2 Engines; 1 Water Tanker; 1 Four Wheel Drive Brush vehicle;
a Heavy Rescue / Command post Vehicle; an Advanced Life Support Ambulance;
Water Rescue unit, two boats, and County LEPC Spill Response Trailer.
Initial response vehicles are equipped with Mobile Computer Terminals
through Lucas County 9-1-1. These mobile computers allow the responding
crews to have the same information as our dispatchers such as the
specific problem, updated incident information, location of Knox Key
boxes and any other important information the crews should know about
before arriving on scene. It also enables vehicle to vehicle messaging
with any other fire or police agency in the County.
